Gelato Cannabis Background

Gelato, also known as Larry Bird or Gelato #32, is a 55/45 Indica-dominant hybrid known for a great balanced mix of effects. The strain was first propagated after Sherbinskis in the san Francisco bay area crossed their Sunset Sherbet with Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. The resulting strain offered an incredibly strong terpene profile rich in b-Caryophyllene, Limonene, and Humulene. More importantly, though, it contained around 17-22% THC, which is good for both newbies and veterans.

These days, Gelato has become one of the most popular strains in the world for its smooth, creamy flavors and its mix of sativa and indica leaning effects. The strain is easily distinguished from others thanks to its signature scent and medium-dense, spade-shaped flowers. Each nug ranges in shades of green and may throw purple hues if it was grown in cooler temperatures. You can also find a thick blanket of silvery white trichomes on each flower.

Gelato Scents Flavors and Effects

All the background aside, let's jump into the meat and potatoes of this review— the scents, flavors, and effects. Gelato is one of those strains you fall in love with the first time you smell it in the bag. Before you even grind it up, it's extremely loud with sweet, fresh, and herbal notes. As you grind it up, you start to smell a dank vanilla-tinged sweetness alongside something warm and spicy.

The flavor takes everything great about the scent and makes it better. On your first inhale, the first impression is fresh and herbal, coaxing out minty, citrusy notes that couldn't be detected on the nose. The smoke itself is very smooth and creamy with a little tinge of minty freshness, making it one of the smoothest smokes out there. That's great to know if you aren't the type who enjoys coughing a ton off of a hit. The aftertaste is sweet and fruity with a lot of those smooth, creamy vanilla flavors. Much like its namesake, it tastes like the weed version of french vanilla ice cream.

As you exhale your first hit, you'll immediately be met with the super mellow effects of the Gelato strain. Nearly instantly, a sense of calm rushes over you, leaving you feeling uplifted, relaxed, and pleasantly euphoric. The strain is gently invigorating, leaving you feeling peaceful, giggly, and happy. It may even make you feel motivated and creative. After settling into the high, Gelato gently relaxes your body without leaving you feeling couch-locked. A short time later, there's a good chance you'll succumb to the munchies.

Potential Medicinal Uses of The Gelato Strain

Between this great mix of effects, plenty of therapeutic terpenes, and a good medium helping of THC, the Gelato strain might be beneficial for people exploring cannabis for medicinal purposes. The relaxing and uplifting cerebral effects may be helpful for depression or stress. Its focusing effects may help with a lack of motivation or difficulty concentrating. However, Gelato tends to err on the side of physical relief. You can count on it against minor aches and pains, headaches, nausea, a lack of appetite, or the symptoms of PMS.
